Matt joins Albireo at a time of accelerated growth and has been tapped to lead acquisitions, partnerships, new products and demand-based offerings, as well as the strategic development of national and international sales channels. Albireo, based in Avoca, Pennsylvania, has local offices across the US, including Ohio, Texas and New York. Albireo’s leading technology and deep market expertise in utility management and procurement are the driving force behind its mission: to unlock hidden energy efficiencies and provide market-leading energy contract management.
Matt Wheatley, a well-known face in the energy market, frequently works with customers, partners, policy makers and industry regulators, with notable recent appearances at the Ohio Public Utility Commission’s ‘Power Forward’ industry discussion, PSE&G’s ‘Energize Long Island’ efforts, IHS Markit’s ‘CERAWeek’, and ‘Microgrid Knowledge 2018’.

Matt comes to Albireo from Centrica Plc, the Global 500 energy and energy services company best known for it’s Direct Energy brand in North America (which serves nearly 4 million customers and 240,000 business customers in the US & Canada), where he spent nearly a decade. Matt held notable leadership roles with the Direct Energy Business and Centrica Business Solutions units, where he was formerly Vice President, Sales, working with business customers on various energy supply and demand side projects. Matt also has strong experience in mergers, acquisitions and finance, including with Grant Thornton, Roffe Swayne, and Exxon Mobil.
